YOUNG AUTISM CHARITABLE FOUNDATION

Meeting Minutes of Tuesday, August 7, 2007

 Maria Scalabrino distributed the reimbursement sheets for home hours for the August break. E.I. is not eligible for the reimbursement. After hours have been completed, and sheets are filled in, mail to Maria Scalabrino.

 Margaret Cassella discussed what YAPCF has recently donated to the schools;

1)      Opened a ‘shutterfly’ account online which will serve as a ‘picture bank’

for staff to use for programs for the children.

2)      Funded an arts and crafts closet at each campus which will be replenished as

as needed throughout the year.

3)      Donated $100.00 per campus per month for lending lunchbox program.

4)      Purchased a digital camera, printer and a laminator.

5)      Also donated another $3,500 for teaching tools and gym equipment, to bring the total to $6,000.

 The Bar Night will be held on Saturday, October 13th from 5:00-9:00 p.m. at the Nutty Irishman in Bayshore. Admission will be $20 per head.  Margaret explained that we were still in the process of procuring our first, second and third raffle prizes and we were looking for help.  The raffle tickets are going to be sent out before the break. Margaret handed out a flier requesting donations for the baskets. Due to size constraints the baskets are going to be scaled down and we are requesting that everyone contribute a gift card. Due to storage and other issues regarding the liquor, we will be collecting $10 from everyone in lieu of the liquor and we will be purchasing new bottles from a supplier who will give us a discount. The flier for the ‘Nutty Irishman’ event was handed out. Gift Certificates for Bar Night are available for people to purchase for Staff to attend.

 Please send your donations of gift cards, money, etc. to Jen Powers at Ronkonkoma and Amy Geraldi at Medford. If you have any questions, feel free to call Amy at (631)750-5109 or email at pjsma@optonline.net.

 It was mentioned that over 40 students are graduating from Y.A.P. this year, the largest graduating class. We are going to need the support of incoming parents. Margaret asked for suggestions on how to get people involved and motivated. It was suggested that we show the dinner dance video at the October 1st meeting.

 Mary Herrle mentioned that there will be a Wrightslaw I.E.P. boot camp in November. The fee is $350.00 to attend but there are scholarships available at www. Elija.org and for more information on the boot camp please see www. Wrightslaw.com.

 Y.A.P.C.F. is in the process of creating a module for accepting credit card payments at our website. We need volunteers with computer experience who will help maintain the website.

 The 2008 dinner dance will be on April 19th, at the Crest Hollow Country Club.

 The next Y.A.P.C.F. meeting will be on Tuesday 9/11 at 7:00 p.m.
