YOUNG AUTISM PROGRAM CHARITABLE FOUNDATION
Meeting Minutes of Tuesday, November 6, 2007
-
Margaret welcomed the new parents and explained the
function of YAPCF.
-
A flier explaining the various classes for children
and adults at Dragonfly Living Arts in Medford was distributed. They have a
kiddie kicks class on Tuesdays and Thursday afternoons.
-
Susan Ambrose was thanked for her generous donation of
pumpkins for the Halloween pumpkin patch.
-
The Christmas party for the children of YAP is on
December 9th. It will be held in the gym at the Hollywood Drive
campus from 12:00-4:00 p.m. Activities will include a bouncy house, giant
slide, D.J., cotton candy machine and arts & crafts. In addition, Gymboree
will be there to provide some games and Santa will be in an alcove for those
children that want to visit with him. Admission will be free, but it is
necessary for parents to R.S.V.P. because we need to know how many people
will be coming. Invitations will be backpacked.
-
The dinner dance will be held on Saturday, April 19th,
2008 at the Crest Hollow Country Club. It will be attended by at least 750
people and we will have approximately 150 raffle items for the Chinese
auction and luxury raffles. We are in dire need of main raffle prizes. If
anyone has any connections or would be willing to donate a prize, please let
YAPCF know. A data base is being created which keeps track of every single
person’s information regarding dinner dance donations. People will get a
recognition certificate and a letter which can be used for tax purposes.
-
We are looking for people to volunteer for various
dinner dance jobs.
-
The journal distributed during the dinner dance is
one of our biggest means of raising money. It is critical that everyone
participate in this and is aware of the deadlines for the ads.
-
The video authorization forms were distributed for the
dinner dance video. It will be a half an hour long and will include all of
the children. There will also be still pictures of the children shown on big
screens during the dinner dance.
-
Mary Herrle and Amy Geraldi explained how the process
of procuring prizes from companies worked. Sample letters were distributed
and pointers were given on how to solicit products from various stores and
corporations. If anyone needs a copy of the letterhead used to write the
letters, or a copy of an actual procurement letter, please email Amy Geraldi
at
pjsma@optonline.net.
-
Mary Herrle spoke about a jewelry company called
Gemerosity that, upon YAP approval, will donate 50% of their proceeds to
YAP. Their website is
www.geMerosity.com. More information will be forthcoming.
The next YAPCF meeting will be on Tuesday, December 4th,
2007 at 6:30 p.m. before the evening parent training.
