Young Autism Program Charitable Foundation

Your involvement is vital to the success of YAP Charitable Foundation’s efforts.  There are so many ways you can help.  You don’t have to donate large sums of money in order to be considered important to the Foundation.  Below is a list of the many ways you can assist us in reaching our goals:

Attend YAPCF Meetings the 1st Tuesday of each month at the Air Park Drive Campus in Ronkonkoma.

Solicit for YAPCF fundraisers. It is so important that each family tries their best to help raise money in any way they can for our fundraisers. Sell raffle tickets. Encourage your family, friends and co-workers to attend. Solicit businesses for donations and/or raffle prizes (and journal ads for the dinner

Contact your connections. Do you know someone who owns a business or provides a service? Our families who have connections have helped us out a great deal in the past in obtaining raffle prizes, venues for our fundraising events, etc.

Donate to our fundraisers. We have two big fundraisers a year. For each, we ask all families to donate a gift basket item worth $25-$30, a bottle of top shelf liquor, three scratch-off lottery tickets, and $10 for miscellaneous expenses. It is paramount that each family donates each of these items twice per year. You can give cash in lieu of a basket item and we’ll shop for you. Without your help, our fundraisers will not be successful and, if we do not raise $250,000 annually, the children enrolled in YAP will not receive the 1:1 education they so desperately need and deserve.

Volunteer your time. We always need volunteers for various tasks throughout the year. The problem we so often face is that the same few people volunteer to do everything because many others do not rise to the occasion. We have volunteer work to fit every schedule and preference.

Collect Boxtops for Eduation. They are cashed in to help buy items for fundraising events. Ask your family, friends and co-workers to save them for you. You can send boxtops through your child’s backpack to Annmarie Lang (Medford) or Janet Levins (Ronkonkoma), or bring them to the monthly meetings. To view a list of participating products or for information on how you can earn bonus boxtops for YAP (we’re registered as Young Autism Program Medford), go to www.boxtops4education.com.

Distribute donation cans. You can pick them up at the monthly meetings or contact the VP of Fundraising. The money raised from donation cans help pay for miscellaneous fundraising expenses and/or raffle prizes. Drop them off at the local businesses in your area. You can put your name and phone number on the bottom of the can and ask to be contacted when it is full. Attach a picture of your child for a personal touch.
